Music Department Gift Card / Scrip

Program

Important information about the Gift Card program and your taxes.  Download the attached letter and give it to your tax preparer.  Get the letter HERE.

If you are the parent of a new music student at MHHS, Welcome!  If you are the parent of a returning student, Welcome Back!  This letter is to inform you of one way that many of our parents are using to totally fulfill or reduce the Annual Booster Club Fair Share.  The Fair Share helps the Music Booster Club provide music, choreography, instructors, travel, entry fees and administrative support for all of the Mission Hills High School Music groups:  Color Guard, Winter Guard, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Marching Band and Winter Concert Percussion.

Buying Gift Cards /Scrip is a very easy way to earn credits toward your student’s Fair Share. Gift Cards can be purchased throughout the year and by starting now you can significantly reduce the amount of this Fair Share needed for your student. The Scrip Coordinator emails interested families a list of currently available Gift Cards.  When you look at this list you can see some businesses give much higher percentages back then do others. To help you  understand here is an example of the percentages given for each type of scrip and how much will be going toward your student’s Fair Share.  If I buy $100 of scrip that gives back 20% that is $20 toward my student’s Fair Share, for 10% it gives back $10, 5% gives back $5 and for 1.5% it is $1.50. That is why it is best to buy the higher percentage items!

Please be aware that gift cards do not expire in California, though there might be restrictions. Be sure to read the information that comes with your Gift Card!

If you choose to purchase Gift Cards to offset the Fair Share your student will have when they enter Marching Band and Color Guard in August, be aware that if your student does not enroll in the Mission Hills High School Marching Band and Color Guard, that the return on Scrip can not be refunded to you. It can be transferred to another student who is enrolled at MHHS in the Marching Band and Color Guard program, or it can go into the general fund.
